U.S. Jobs Data

U.S. December jobs data disappointing

U.S. Jobs market closed 2019 with a slower jobs growth rate than expected. The latest data registered 145,000 vs 164,000 expected. This was far lower than the November stellar results where some 266,000 jobs were added to the U.S. economy.

However, the unemployment rate held steady at 3.5% and remained at a healthy 50 year low.

December job gains came mainly from the retail and service sectors.

So where now for January jobs?

Dow futures remained up but fell slightly to around 28960 from 29050 as the jobs data was released.

This latest U.S jobs data figure was down on November by some 120,000!
