Retro game company Antstream creates platform for game enthusiasts

UK tech start-up Antstream

A little know UK tech’ start-up, Anstream, creates online retro game streaming platform.

UK based business, Antstream says it wants to bring a streaming experience to retro gaming enthusiasts. In the company’s own words, Antstream is the World’s first retro game streaming subscription service. No downloads, no fiddly emulators, just instant streaming!

The company has developed a cloud gaming service that gives players access to 2,000 online classic video games. It’s much like streaming a movie on Netflix, only for retro games.

Antstream can be downloaded on PC, Android or Mac. The app is free to download and the service will cost £9.99 per month. It is a cross platform system running on: Windows, Mac OSX and Android. My initial feeling is that £9.99 is a high monthly cost for this service.

Competition

Can it compete head to head with Google’s Stadia cloud gaming platform for instance, or Microsoft’s online gaming service? I don’t know. But I’m a fan regardless, I love the idea and I’m totally biased. I just love retro games – so its already ‘done it’ for me.

Will Anstream succeed?

Whether Antstream will ultimately win against the big hitters remains to be seen. Is there room for another pay as you go streaming service in addition to all the others? I really don’t know. They all add up monthly and that might be a concern. But I’ll give it a go and I like many other potential users, will fulfil a retro game nostalgia trip down memory lane. Now that’s got to be worth it.

Best of luck Anstream. Sign me up!
