Electric cars to emit noise

New electric vehicles will have to emit a noise under a new EU directive as of Monday 1st. July 2019

The AVAS – ‘acoustic vehicle alert system’ must sound when reversing or travelling below 12mph on all new four wheel vehicles.

Pedestrian safety is the key to this directive as there were concerns electric cars and vans were too quiet, placing pedestrians at risk.

Latest sale figures show that over 6% of new vehicle sales are now alternatively fuelled. Still some way to go before the combustion engine is removed from our roads. But we’re on our way!

Thank you Tesla.
